We aim to enhance human flourishing across individuals, organizations, and societies by understanding:

  • The social, economic, and political drivers of subjective well-being—spanning personal life and public policy.

  • The synergy between contemporary well-being models and classical notions like character strengths and vocational interests.

  • The long-term psychological effects of interacting with AI conversational agents—from nurturing character virtues to supporting emotional health and adaptive behavior.

Methodology

We integrate rigorous measurement frameworks with innovative techniques across disciplines:

  • Latent class, multilevel, and time-based modeling to capture nuanced patterns in well-being over time and across contexts.

  • Novel data science approaches—like video, voice, and sensor analytics—to understand human experience in real-world settings.

  • The design and evaluation of AI conversational agents that not only deliver scalable, personalized interaction but also promote human well-being and moral growth, while carefully considering the potential psychological risks of AI engagement.
